Recently Governor DeSantis has passed the following law:

“Starting July 1, 2023, new legislation takes effect in the state of Florida which authorizes a person to carry a concealed weapon or firearm pursuant to a valid concealed weapons license or without a concealed weapons license provided that the criteria for obtaining a license is met.”

Ignorance Is Bliss…….Just because something is allowable DOES NOT mean it is advisable!!

Under this law, the criteria to carry a concealed firearm is the same criteria that would be required to be eligible for a permit. Just as this law protects a gun owner's right to carry a firearm, it is the same gun owner's responsibility to maintain compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations. Gun owners should exercise proper gun safety, storage, and carry valid identification when carrying a concealed firearm. It is a citizen's responsibility to get educated on the new laws. It is not as simple as just because I can I should.

Anything that’s a win on the pro-gun side is always fantastic, especially in a country and world that loves to take rights away so they can control the people. It makes no sense. Is it pro gun, yes, but is it anti education & safety? YES!

So, you still need to conduct a background check to purchase a firearm from a gun shop. But then what? You just throw it in your pocket or waist band shooting very important things in the process? You want to another hole to yourself, you don’t have enough??

Break Leather pricing is pretty straight forward. We don’t have beginner, intermediate, or advanced handgun classes. We don’t have fancy boy classes taught by Mr. Superman, ex-seal, or super special forces guys. We offer real world, EFFECTIVE handgun defense classes, taught by real world instructors with close quarters combat experience. We take out all of the flying doves, movie flips, spins, and slow motion explosives. Then, what’s left is practical and tactical.

All classes come with a Certificate of Training and State of Florida Concealed Weapons Permit Application (if desired). You may be asking yourself, what is the difference in a Break Leather Certificate of Training and the “other guys” certificate? SIMPLE. You get what you pay for.

It is VERY doubtful that a class that lasts less time than your favorite movie and requires you to shoot one single round out of the muzzle of a little .22 is going to equip you to be a trained and RESPONSIBLE armed citizen. You may spend hundreds, if not thousands of dollars on your weapon. Therefore, the training in use and operation of that weapon should be just as important, if not more.

A firearms instructor can go take an NRA "cookie cutter" course. Then within a few hours become a handgun instructor and start to teach. Pretty plain and simple, almost anyone can do it.

Well, this class covers all of it. It incorporates our Realtor Safety Awareness Class AND our Concealed Weapon & Firearm License Class!!

G License/Armed Guard (Statewide Firearm License)
Private 1 on 1 Class: $325.00

In accordance with Florida Chapter 493, Class "G" license armed security officers are required to complete 28 hours of classroom and range instruction under the direction of a Class "K" licensed instructor.

Day One and Day Two are conducted as 10-hour classroom days.

Day Three includes 4 hours of classroom plus 4 hours of range instruction and final qualification.

Graduates that are issued a Florida Class "G" license must return once per year to complete annual requalification to retain their license.

Ammunition Required: Minimum 150 rounds.

Prerequisites: According to Florida Law, you must be over the age of 21, be a Florida resident, and have NO criminal convictions.

Additional Equipment: Baseball cap (with rim to deflect ejected brass casing), notebook and pen, duty holster with loader / magazine pouches. The class requires use of a .38 revolver, .357 revolver, or 9mm semi-automatic pistol along plus (3+) speed loaders or magazines.

Students possessing their own firearm may use them on the range. Those students who do not have their own firearm may rent a firearm from the range. All weapons brought to the course will be subject to a safety inspection prior to live fire.

No ammunition is allowed in the classroom. Weapons must be brought to the range unloaded and encased.

G License Re-Qualification Private Class $125.00

The State of Florida requires that all Florida Licensed "G" Armed Security Officers re-qualify at least once per year with the type of handgun they carry on duty. Students that successfully re-qualify in this 4-hour class will be given proof of re-qualification to provide to the State to maintain their Class "G" license.

This course is a combination of classroom instruction and on-range qualification.

Ammunition Required: Minimum 150 rounds.

Basic Shotgun OR AR-15 Class $199.99

This is an introductory class that covers all aspects of selection and operation of AR-15 or shotguns. How many times have you heard “all you need for the house is a AR or shotgun”? Well...maybe and maybe not! A shotgun & AR's can do more harm than good if the shooter is NOT properly trained.

This is a 3 hour course.

We will reveal both positive and negative points of using shotguns or AR-15's for practical real applications.

Class covers: Firearms safety, ammunition, gun handling, stance, grip etc., maintenance, firearm selection, effective range for fighting with these weapons, loading / reloading techniques.

We are certified by ASP International to teach HANDCUFFING, BATON, & TACTICAL PATROL LIGHT.

Handcuffs:

Some of the most dangerous moments of making contact is applying handcuffs to perpetrators. It is also one of the most common lawsuits for injuries. DO NOT allow your security staff to carry handcuffs without being trained & certified.

The ASP Extendable Baton:

This is a very important tool to have in the "tool box." Proper deployment techniques and strikes are paramount. Failure in effective use can have negative results for both parties. It is very important for security staff to be trained and certified.

Patrol Flashlight:

It may sound funny that we offer training in how to use a flashlight, but this is another great tool to be used out in the field. Think about it....in martial arts, one of the most vulnerable places to strike when being attacked are the eyes.....and that's for good reason. Besides being sensitive to strikes they are also very sensitive to bright light. With some of the high lumens that ASP lights have today, disorientating and short circuiting a perpetrator can be achieved without literally having to even lay one finger on them.

Certified Civilian Taser Class $49.99

We understand not everyone is comfortable with slinging a gun. It's not for everyone. For those who want to protect themselves with less lethal force we offer Taser training.

The class offers everything about how Tasers work, how to care for them, how to carry and draw, and what to do after you may need to use the electronic control device.

Class is 2 hours in length, and NO you do not get Tased.

However, depending on our instructor, you may see the effects of a Taser in the class.

CPR, First Aid, and AED For The Professional Rescuer $39.99-$49.99

In todays day and age most modern security companies will require their guards to be first responders. You will need to have CPR/First Aid Training with AED. We offer top notch training here at Break Leather. With our experienced Paramedic Instructor Shad Kirshenbaum, you will be trained and certified by the best, through The American Heart Association. Certification is good for 2 YEARS.
